EL PUERTO - EL ROBEZO ROUTE

El Puerto - El Robezo route

Route type: Circular

Distance: 10 km

Duration: 3h 25min

Elevation gain: 450 m

Activity: Snowshoes

Difficulty: Medium

Although it looks very long, this route has very little ascent and is a pleasure to walk when the weather is good. It is recommended for people who are fit but do not have in-depth knowledge of the mountains, as it has no exposure or danger. On the other hand, bear its length in mind when planning your start time, as it takes you quite far from the car park.

The route starts in the southern part of the village of El Puerto and crosses the village to the east. A street that climbs leads to a track that takes you to the Fuente de la Bruja.

From here, take care not to lose height and continue across the slope to the Majada del Rañadoiro.

Once you leave the main track there are several options; the most advisable is to climb across the slope to the Majada. The only option we do not recommend is following the gully of the Fuente del Rebezo, as its terrain can slow your progress. From the Majada continue towards the Alto del Rañadoiro, from where you can see Peña Chana in all its splendour. If you are doing well for time, you can even carry on to the foot of Peña Chana without losing height.

The second part of the route continues to the start of the Sierra del Robezo and runs along its western and southern slopes to meet the PR-AS 16, which brings you back to the northern part of the village after passing El Robezo, Peña Salgada and El Putracón.

All along the route you have views of the south-south-east face of the imposing El Cornón in the distance, which invites you to dream of a future ascent.
