ES Hotels and accommodation in Somiedo
Staying inside the park is the difference between seeing Somiedo and living it: waking up to mist over the meadows and starting the walk before anyone else arrives. Below you will find 23 rural hotels, country houses and apartments across the whole concejo, grouped by area.
Most of them are in Pola de Somiedo, the main village and the easiest base if you want restaurants within walking distance. Valle del Lago puts you minutes from Lago del Valle, and Villar de Vildas is where the Pigüeña valley trails begin. Caunedo, Gúa, Éndriga, Veigas, El Coto, El Puerto and Saliencia fill in the map with smaller, quieter places. What each one offers is in the villages of Somiedo.
Where to stay in and around Pola de Somiedo
The main village is the most practical base: Pola de Somiedo has the Park Interpretation Centre, the restaurants and the shops, and the Accessible Path starts in the village itself. Gúa is a few kilometres up the valley, on the way to the pass, and the Braña de Mumián trail ends in El Coto de Buenamadre.
Where to stay in Valle del Lago
The village where the walk to Lago del Valle, the largest lake in Asturias, and the climb to the Braña de Sousas both begin. Stay here and you can start walking without touching the car.
Where to stay in Caunedo and El Puerto
Caunedo, between Pola and the pass, is a small, quiet village with one of the two sites of the Somiedo Ecomuseum and, above the village, a wildlife viewpoint used for bear watching. Higher up, Santa María del Puerto, at almost 1,500 m, is the starting point of the climb to El Cornón, of the traverse to Valle del Lago and, when there is snow, of several winter routes.
Where to stay in the Saliencia valley
Veigas, Éndriga and Saliencia lie on the road that climbs to the Alto de La Farrapona, where the Saliencia Lakes trail begins. Veigas is home to the other site of the Ecomuseum, with its thatched teito houses, and the valley gives its name to the Brañas de Saliencia trail.
Where to stay in Villar de Vildas
In the Pigüeña valley, on the western side of the concejo. The Pigüeña valley trail, which passes the Braña de La Pornacal, starts here, and the walk down from La Peral ends in the village.
