Duration: 4h 15min
Elevation gain: 750 m
Activity: Ski touring
Difficulty: Medium
This is a very short and simple route but, at the same time, a delight for the ski tourer, thanks to the wide valleys and ideal gradients it runs through. It is also a good exercise in efficiency, as it involves a few quick skin changes.
The route runs through a wide valley, with spectacular views in every direction. Access is very good. It is a perfect route for the start of the season, for taking less experienced friends or for enjoying an outing when you do not have much time.
The route leaves from the northern part of El Puerto de Somiedo heading east along a very wide path that leads to the La Bobia col. It runs north-east following the PR-AS 16 to the Putracón col, leaving Peña Blanca to the south. From here you can see the climb to the summit of Peña Salgada. The route runs along much of the Sierra del Robezo and gives spectacular views of the surroundings, from El Cornón to Peña Chana and other lower valleys in the Sousas area; from the ridge you can see the lovely village of Caunedo.
From Peña Salgada comes the first descent, before tackling the climb to the Alto del Putracón. From here you descend, taking care not to get too close to the northern side. Once at the col, climb the ridge again to the final descent point, El Diente. Another descent, keeping to your right towards the south, leads to the track where the ascent began. From here it is only a few metres back to Puerto de Somiedo.
