VILLAR DE VILDAS - BRAÑA VIECHA ROUTE

The route starts at the car park in Villar de Vildas, where you leave the vehicle. From this point, follow the waymarked route P.R. AS-14.1 south, which leads to the well-known Braña de La Pornacal along a comfortable track that takes in the first 350 metres of ascent. From here, keep following the track that goes up the whole valley of the river Pigüeña to the turn-off, on the left, for the path to La Peral. If you are doing the route on snowshoes, follow the track straight ahead, which leads to Braña Viecha or Braña Los Cuartos.

After leaving the Corralón waterfall on the right, continue along the track that runs south following the river Pigüeña upstream. After a slight climb you reach Braña Viecha at the start of the Valle los Cereizales.

The views from here are imposing: some of the highest mountains in Somiedo Natural Park rise before you, such as Pico El Cornón and its range, the Sierra de Las Cereizales, Peña Bermeicha and other mountains, such as Peña Canseco, which stand out for their rock walls.
